Certification
SpringSource is pleased to announce its SpringSource Certification Program. This program has been created for software professionals (architects, developers and consultants) who desire to acquire certification of their Spring (and SpringSource product portfolio) knowledge directly from the source, SpringSource.
By becoming a SpringSource Certified Professional, you will be easily recognized by the growing number of employers who are looking for knowledgeable Spring developers. By acquiring the Spring Framework Professional certification, you are helping to build a new community of distinguished software professionals and are helping to normalize the market perception of baseline Spring technical expertise.
The first phase of the SpringSource Certification Program began taking registrations for the Spring Framework Certification in North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East on 15 January 2008. On 1 April 2008, the SpringSource program became world-wide by covering all the countries in the Asia/Pacific theatre. Since 31 January 2008, eligible individuals have been registering to take the Spring Framework Professional certification examination via the web. The exam can be taken at one of over 4500 world-wide testing facilities.
A person is eligible for registration if he or she has recently taken the 4-day “CoreSpring” class from SpringSource (or a SpringSource certified training partner) in the Americas, Europe, Africa, the MiddleEast and Asia/Pacific. A person may also be eligible for registration, without attending the 4-day course, if he or she can demonstrate having significantly contributed to the Spring community or can provide a reference to a Spring development effort in which he or she was actively involved. This person is referred to as a “grandfathered” candidate.
A grandfathered candidate is a person who has not attended the four-day CoreSpring class but who has satisfied any one of the following criteria:
- Demonstrable evidence of (1) successful Spring solution completed. Evidence will include customer name and contact information reference.
- Demonstrable evidence of adding value to Spring Products and/or the Community. Candidate should provide supporting information from one or more of the following examples:
- a. Forum posts
- b. Software patches
- c. Articles promoting Spring or explaining Spring
- d. User Group involvement
- Possession of a Spring Framework Professional Certification from a previous version of Spring.
Any individual wishing to be considered as a grandfathered candidate should e-mail the certification coordinator via certification@springsource.com. Please begin the e-mail with the subject line: "Grandfather certification request." The SpringSource Certification Coordinator will contact this individual, via return e-mail, with the final, simple step toward receiving a voucher for registration.
Any individual who has recently taken the 4-day “CoreSpring” class is not only eligible to register for the certification exam but may take the exam, the first time, free of charge. Additional attempts to take the exam, and all attempts to take the exam by grandfathered candidates, must be paid for by the candidate at the time of registration. The cost for the exam is 150USD (or the equivalent) in the Americas, 115 EURO (or equivalent) in Europe and 210USD (or the equivalent) in Asia/Pacific.
Additional phases of the SpringSource Certification Program, scheduled for continued release throughout 2008, will include the following certifications:
- SpringSource Web Technologies Professional
- SpringSource Application Platform Professional
- SpringSource Integration Professional
- SpringSource Application Management Professional
