GRV001: Groovy and Grails Training

Overview: This 3 day course covers both Groovy language and Grails framework. After an introduction to the basics of the Groovy language, Students are taken through a step-by-step labdriven experience on how to build a solid Grails applicationlearning from the people who created the technology.

Audience: The course is designed for Java developers who are lookingto understand the basics of the Groovy language and who want to obtain a greater breadth of understanding of the Grails framework and the key technologies that underpin it.

Prerequisites: Students should have a solid grounding in Java and knowledge of basic web technologies such as HTML and HTTP

Goal: Students, upon completing this course, will have the necessary skills to construct a Grails applications having a sound knowledge of all the core concepts from the web to the persistence layer. Students will also learn key development best practices thus enabling the development of higher quality code.

Learning Method: Having established the basics of the Groovy language, students commence constructing a Grails application starting by looking at the domain model which can be used to generate a basic application. From this point students progressively learn new features provided by Grails by building on the existing application and stepping through exercise by exercise in between lectures delivered by a SpringSource certified trainer.
