1. Who is SpringSource and why should I take my training from them?

2. What are the prerequisites for becoming a Spring Certified Professional?
To become a Certified Spring professional you must pass the certification exam. To do this you need to obtain a voucher in order to book an exam at one of our many test centres around the world. You can do this in two ways, either by attending one of our 4-day Core Spring courses, www.springsource.com/training or by demonstrating having significantly contributed to the Spring community or providing a reference to a Spring development effort in which you have been actively involved. This person is referred to as a “grandfathered” candidate.
A grandfathered candidate is a person who has not attended the four-day Core Spring class but who has satisfied any one of the following criteria:
- Demonstrable evidence of (1) successful Spring solution completed. Evidence will include customer name and contact information reference.
- Demonstrable evidence of adding value to Spring Products and/or the Community. Candidate should provide supporting information from one or more of the following examples:
- a. Forum post
- b. Software patches
- c. Articles promoting Spring or explaining Spring
- d. User Group involvement
- Possession of a Spring Framework Professional Certification from a previous version of Spring.
3. Where can I take the certification exam?
The Spring Certification Exam is available in thousands of locations worldwide. Simply go to www.pearsonvue.com/springsource and click on locate a test centre on the right hand side of the page. You can then enter your city of postcode and a list will be generated of all the test centres in your area. If you have a voucher to take the exam you can then book the test either online or by calling the test centre directly.
4. I can’t locate a test centre in India.
To locate a test centre please go to www.pearsonvue.com/springsource and click on locate a test centre, then select India and search. This will bring up the two options that you have seen previously. You need to click on the top one “Pearson Vue authorized centres in India” then select “click here” at the bottom of the page to open a list of test centres in a new window. Select “SpringSource” from the list on the right hand side and that will bring up a list of regions. You then click on the region you want (i.e. Maharashtra) and this will give you a full list of centres and their phone numbers. You need to call the centre directly to arrange the exam, quoting your voucher number to book the test.
5. How many questions are in the exam and what is the pass mark?
The exam is made up of 50 questions, each worth 2 marks each. The pass mark for the exam is 76% so you need to correctly answer 38 of the 50 questions.
6. What exams are currently available to take?
The only Spring Certification exam currently available is for the SpringSource Certified Spring Professional Certification. This exam is based on the latest version of Spring and the current training course http://www.springsource.com/training/spr001/syllabus.
Coming Soon: We are bringing out two new Certifications: “SpringSource Certified Web Specialist” and “SpringSource Certified Enterprise Integration Specialist”. Pre-requisites for the Web Specialist is having taken Core Spring, followed by the Rich Web Applications course and for the Enterprise Integration Specialist is Core Spring followed by Enterprise Integration with Spring course (the grandfathered option will also be available for both the certifications).
