Matthew Adams, Senior Consultant, North America

Matthew is a senior consultant with SpringSource, responsible for training, consulting, and developer-focused marketing in North America.

He has been professionally developing software since 1990, beginning with C and C++ as well as the Microsoft family of Visual Studio languages, then beginning with Java in its pre-JDK 1.0 days.  He has also developed professionally using the .NET framework since version 1.0.  His experience has included work in the industries of enterprise resource planning, credit card transaction processing, online travel, automotive marketing, and object persistence.

Matthew's primary area of expertise is in transparent persistence, having served on the expert groups for JDO 1 & 2, SDO 2, and JPA 1 & 2.  In particular, he is interested in what these technologies enable:  the pursuit of rich, persistent, domain object models that have been previously unachievable due to limitations in persistence technologies.  He recognizes streamlined object modeling (Nicola et al) and domain-driven design (Evans) as seminal works, and values agile development practices.  He finds aspect-oriented programming (AOP) and dynamic languages pretty cool, too.

When not working, he enjoys RV camping, off-road motorcycle riding, competitive indoor & outdoor volleyball, golf, and bowling, as well as watching his children grow up.  He can also be seen at almost every Seattle Seahawks home game with his wife, cheering with 70,000 other fans.

Matthew lives in Tacoma, WA with his wife and children.
